CommScope has been approved by WInnForum as a Certified Professional Installer (CPI) Training Program Administrator (TPA) for the Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS). The accreditation allows CommScope to offer training to installation professionals who want to attain CBRS CPI certification.
FCC Part 96 rules require that applicable CBRS Devices (CBSDs)
be professionally installed. This requires a TPA to train CBSD installers
and certify that they have sufficient knowledge to perform the installation
pursuant to FCC rules. Both the TPA and the CPIs need oversight to ensure they
are adhering to the rules. The FCC chartered WInnForum, an industry standards
body, as the accrediting body overseeing the training programs and curriculum
for CPI. It provides the criteria to certify a training program and maintains
valid certification records of both the training program and the CPI. It also
sets the review and discipline processes for CPIs.
CommScope, a leader
in CBRS and a strong supporter of CBRS commercialization, is now an approved
CPI TPA. This accreditation marks yet another milestone in CommScope’s vision
to lead and assist in the growth of the CBRS ecosystem. We have the expertise
and capabilities required to provide world-class training to any installation
professional interested in becoming a CBRS CPI.
CommScope offers CPI training as a self-paced online course. The course material covers the entire CBRS ecosystem including terminology, concepts, CPI requirements and lots of practical advice on gathering accurate information. The course takes two to four hours to complete, depending on the level of familiarization with CBRS. After completion, trainees are able to take an exam to test their knowledge and gain certification.
